DENNIS LOESCH
numerous
12 January - 23 February 2008
We are looking forward to Dennis Loesch's solo exhibition "numerous".
With "numerous" Jan Winkelmann / Berlin presents a series of new works by Dennis Loesch based upon a digital brushstroke created by the artist. It is composed through the duplication and shifting of the letter string "DENNISLOESCH" and functions as a universally applicable drawing tool for the artist.
The exhibition features ten pieces, each of which depicts a number and/or punctuation mark. Alongside canvases of various sizes and stele-like fabric sculptures, small-format works on paper as well as a pile of posters are to be seen. Combined, the pieces provide the date of the exhibition opening, reducing the event to a cipher of numbers and characters As Joy Kristin Kalu states in the publication to the exhibition, "They illustrate minimalistically how signifier and signified actually concur (...) and, with slight variations, all deal anecdotically with originality and self-reference."
Dennis Loesch (* 1979) lives in Berlin.
